To kick-off the Community Voices series the library is going deep underground with Dr. Peggy Norris from Sanford Lab. Norris will present “Mining for Scientific Gold in the Black Hills” on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hoyt Room.

Norris, a physicist and science educator, will report on the search for nature’s most elusive particles deep underground at the former Homestake gold mine and the plans to convert the gold mine into the Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL). Norris recently relocated to the Black Hills from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to become deputy director of education and outreach at Sanford Lab.
